Turning ideas into reality, the future into power : MIRAI Creators Project

Let’s create a MapleStory mini-game using Scratch!

The first MIRAI Creators Project event was a game programming event and it was held on September 1, 2014. On the day of the event, a range of elementary third graders to third-year junior high school students gathered at Nexon’s head office in Tokyo and created original mini-games using characters and sounds from MapleStory.

They attempted programming to create a game for 90 minutes using a programming environment called Scratch, which allowed them to create games by combining words like a puzzle.

Flipping through the textbook, each participant created a game at his or her own pace. They asked our staff members for hints for difficult parts or whenever they got confused.

When they were done, we had a person from each team present the original mini-games. The staff members were impressed by the various ideas and attention to details that could be seen.

Q&A session. A lot of questions were asked such as, “What can we do to work at a game company?”

The event ended with a group photo shoot. From this day on, each and every participant is a MIRAI Creator.

Thank you for coming!
